Kimono Robe “Midnight Script”

Midnight Script is a silk chiffon kimono robe that gives black a sense of depth through transparency. Oversized characters and letter fragments emerge like lines written in shadow. Denser, softly lustrous areas alternate with sheer spaces, allowing the pattern to appear and dissolve within the folds.

Its mood echoes the art of calligraphy, where the space between lines is as expressive as the brushstroke itself. Rather than reproducing a traditional Eastern script, it offers a contemporary interplay of graphics and stillness. Over a pale base, the pattern becomes more defined; over black, it turns into a subtle tonal texture revealed through movement.

Sashiko with small dark beads connects the sleeves to the body, leaving delicate openings. The restrained shimmer complements the monochrome palette, while the belt’s long silk tassels respond to every gesture.

Sized S–L, the relaxed maxi silhouette and wide sleeves create soft draping. Use the belt to define the waist or wear the robe open. Layer it over simple separates, allowing the light and the colours beneath to reveal a different aspect of the chiffon’s design.
